Addictive brains, by nature, are dopamine-driven and always seeking that next hit. When we recover from active addiction (desire dopamine) we tend to gravitate toward the dopamine we get from planning, preparation, and checklists (control dopamine). To move away from these nonstop pursuits, we can learn to orient ourselves to the present–the here and now. In this vlog, I offer a quote that sank deep into my soul this week and I share tips for how to activate the serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphin systems so that you’re not being driven by a never-ending pursuit of dopamine.
